   Living in Bathgate

Bathgate is a town situated in West Lothian, Scotland. The town sits almost in the middle of two of Scotland’s major cities - Glasgow and Edinburgh - making the town of Bathgate a great base for those looking to commute to either city for work, or for those who simply want to pay a visit. Glasgow can be reached in just over a half hour drive, whilst Edinburgh falls around 45 minutes away. Both cities are easily accessible too as the M8 motorway is closeby, or for those that prefer to take the train, Bathgate has its own rail station with direct trains running through to both cities several times an hour.

For things to see and do in the town of Bathgate, both the town itself and the surrounding areas have a long and rich history. Growth of the town over time has been due to farming, weaving and in more recent times, to car production and engineering. The town’s history can be explored today in the Bennie Museum. Going even further back in time, the Neolithic burial site at Cairnpapple Hill - about a 10 minute drive away by car - shows signs of habitation since about 3500 BC, and makes for a fascinating visit.

The town is also well served by shops and a number of eateries. Shops include a mix of well known high street names, as well as local shops too. Also in the town are Aldi and Morrisons supermarkets, meaning those living in the town are never far from useful amenities.
