Redrow Buyers Relocate For A Rural Lifestyle

Home owners spreading their wings and embracing a more relaxed pace of life by relocating to a more rural location in Kent.

But rather than purchasing a smaller property, parents who’s grown up children have moved into homes of their own are opting to buy bigger at St Andrew’s Park in Halling. Several customers at the popular Redrow development have bought homes with enough room to comfortably accommodate visits by their children and grandchildren.

They include Jenny and Brett Butler, who purchased a five-bedroom Highgate style property after Jenny fell in love with the master bedroom’s walk in dressing room.

“We’d lived in our old four-bedroom detached home for about 25 years and as our children had grown up and flown the nest we decided we wanted a change,” Jenny, a retired bookkeeper, explains.

“We’d been looking for a few years but hadn’t seen anything that ticked all the boxes until we saw the Highgate at St Andrew’s Park. Brett had wanted to downsize but I wasn’t ready to – our new home is actually bigger than the old one.”

Brett adds: “Our children are building their own families now and having a bigger house means there’s room for them to come to stay. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, with two more bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor so our children can stay up there and feel self-contained with lots of privacy while still being in the same house.”

Part of the appeal for the couple was the location. Brett is a commercial manager for a building company and commutes to London via Ebbsfleet station.

“It’s also very good for commuting via the M2, A2 and M20 but in a picturesque area, close to the North Downs with lovely scenic walks we can enjoy,” he adds.

Retirees Mike and Linda Remon are also enjoying being able to walk in the surrounding countryside having purchased a four-bedroom detached Oxford style property.

“I was born and bred in Medway so know the area. The homes are in a rural location close to the Downs and we can walk out into the countryside without having to drive,” Mike says.

“We’d been looking at St Andrew’s Park for some time, but never thought we’d buy a new house. We’d previously downsized from a four-bedroom detached home to a three-bedroom semi but decided we wanted to go back to a detached property. I felt that we were lucky to be in a position to be able to invest our money more wisely in bricks and mortar than in stocks and shares.”

They put their old home on the on the market and had 24 viewings in one day and an instant buyer but nowhere to move to.

“By coincidence we had an email from Redrow telling us there was a property that had just become available,” Mike adds.

“We liked the traditional style of the Heritage Collection and the Oxford in particular because of the accommodation it offers. From that point it was an easy decision.”

Current availability at St Andrew’s Park includes one and two-bedroom apartments, plus four-bedroom homes, with prices from £229,995 to £384,995.
