Great Ideas For Your Spare Room

Make the most out of the spare space in your new home

A junk room? Laundry room? A storage facility? Most spare rooms come with a 'oh you don't want to look in there' warning.

They resemble desolate waste land or a hybrid of room functions which end up not really being used for anything in particular.

If you are stuck with what to do with your spare room then take a look at some of our great ideas to get the most out of your space.

A Study

Work from home or have lots of paperwork to store in the house? Most spare bedrooms, big or small, can be made into a great study area. Desks are also great for storage and can be used by all members of the family.

A Guest Room

Most people with a spare room opt to use it as a space of guests to stay. However, don't be fooled into thinking that guest rooms have to be dominated by a bed and little else - estpecialy if you don’t have guests stay that often then you don’t want to waste the space – try adding a sofa bed so that you can use the room as a chill out/TV room too.

Storage Room

Just because your spare room is destined to be a storage room, it doesn’t mean it has to be cluttered with boxes and bags. Most retail stores offer some great unique storage solutions which means you can organise your storage whilst still keeping the room as functional as possible.

Reading Room

Create a makeshift library in your spare room for a great place to unwind with one of your favourite novels. Use bean bags or big armchairs and some creative bookshelves to display all your books.

Play Room

If you have kids, spare rooms make great playrooms – or in other words - a great place to put all of their toys without cluttering other living spaces! Let them get involve with the decoration and furniture to make sure it is really their space. Crafts tables, creative storage solutions and even painted on chalk board walls will make this a great space for keeping the kids entertained.
