Mortgage Lending At Its Highest Since Recession

According to experts, this rise in mortgage lending is in part due to the pre-christmas competition in the mortgage market, as lenders strive to meet their annual targets. 

This combined with home buyers rushing to take advantage of cheaper mortgage deals while the Bank of England is still keeping interest rates so low, has seen the value of mortgages lent increase by one fith in a single year.
