Now It's Wedding Bells For Couple Who Camped Out For First Home

Friends and family thought Jonathan Powell had gone a little crazy when he camped out overnight to secure the perfect property at Redrow’s Knight’s Park in Woolton.

But after visiting him and fiancée Dannika Burnell in their beautiful home in the sought-after Liverpool suburb, they’ve realised it was the wisest move he ever made.

“Everyone thought I was mad when I camped out but now they have seen us in our home and realised how amazing it is they understand why Dannika and I wanted the house we did, and the plot we did,” said Jonathan.

“We both grew up in the area and have friends and family nearby so the development itself was perfect for our first home together. But where we are we effectively have only one neighbour; we have our own drive way up to our home, going through gates to get to it, so it is very private and we have views for miles from the back of the house.”

Joiner Jonathan, 25, added: “Even we realised just how special it was at Christmas when Dannika and I spent Christmas Day on our own in our new home. It was just wonderful, and then both our families came over on Boxing Day.

“We had a buffet style celebration in the open plan kitchen and dining area and there was plenty of room for everyone. And everyone loves the house.

“We moved in six months ago and have now finished all the furnishing – with tips we picked up from viewing several show homes – so it really feels like home, like ours.

“Now, after planning the property purchase we are focusing on our wedding in May and it’s great to know that, after we have tied the knot, Dannika and I can start married life in our beautiful home, knowing everything is sorted. It’s the best start we could ever have.”

It’s a story to inspire, but anyone hoping to follow in Jonathan and Dannika’s footsteps to a brand new home at Knights Park will have to quicken their pace because there are only two homes remaining.

The collection of three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection has been built on the site of the old Watergate School, in Speke Road, Woolton.

“Knight’s Park is a charming development close to all the amenities of pretty Woolton village and those of the city too,” said Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes.

“The development - our first venture within the Liverpool Housing Partnership – has been a success from the start and, with only a small number of homes in such a superb location, it is hardly surprising that only two remain. So anyone wanting to enjoy living here like Jonathan and Dannika, will have to be quick.”

Of those remaining, one is a Thirlmere style property available at £299,995, with four bedrooms and spacious accommodation over three floors.

It boasts a magnificent master bedroom on the top floor with en-suite shower room, with three further bedrooms on the floor below and an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area.

For those wanting a more conventional home, the four-bedroom detached Cambridge, at £399,995, offers an open plan family, kitchen and dining area with the added sanctuary and sophistication of a separate lounge.

“Of course buyers can also take advantage of the Help to Buy scheme, which allows people to pay just a 5% deposit and get a government-backed equity loan for 20%, which is interest-free for the first five years,” added Claire.
