Buy Now In Basildon For A Summer Move

Sales success for Redrow in Basildon means buyers hoping to move to a new home at St Nicholas Mews will need to look ahead to the summer.

The popular Redrow development has clocked up a consistent sales rate of at least one property a week over the last nine months.

Around a dozen people have now moved in and as the new neighbourhood takes shape, the housebuilder expects to see an uplift in enquiries from those hoping to follow suit.

What potential purchasers may not realise is that the homes are selling well ahead of build and so properties now on release won’t be ready to move into until June.

Kerry McCoubrey, sales director for Redrow Homes (Eastern), said: “From the offset St Nicholas Mews has been a popular choice with buyers who recognise the benefits of buying a brand new home. People love the idea of being able to truly make it their own before they move in, rather than having the hassle and expense of repairs and renovations that an older property is likely to need.

“The location is also a big draw as the nearby Festival Leisure Park offers lots of amenities, the town centre is within walking distance and London can be reached in around half an hour by train from Basildon or Laindon stations. It’s therefore no surprise that the homes are in demand. Based on experience, we expect that as more people move in it will encourage others to start thinking about moving and becoming part of the new community.”

Current availability at St Nicholas Mews includes four-bedroom designs from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts influenced Heritage Collection of traditional looking homes, with prices from £419,995.

Selected properties are eligible for Help to Buy: Equity Loans, meaning they can be secured with only a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The remainder of the price is covered by a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for five years.

For example, a Shaftesbury, similar to the show home, can be purchased using Help to Buy.

The Government-backed scheme reduces the initial price from £484,995 to £387,996. The lower price includes a deposit of £24,250 and a mortgage for £363,746. The balance of £96,999 is covered by the equity loan.
