Living in Hamilton

Situated in the central lowlands of Scotland, Hamilton is a town in South Lanarkshire and Scotland’s fourth largest town.

For residents of Hamilton, there is plenty to see and do. Tennis courts and football pitches can be found at the Hamilton Palace Sports Ground, whilst Strathclyde Country Park is just 2 miles away, and offers watersports, club activities, guided nature walks and music festivals. Chatelherault Country Park is also just 10 minutes away by car and 4 minutes by train, and its grounds offer 10 mile walks along the scenic River Avon, right the way through ancient woodland. Residents of Hamilton can also visit the Low Parks Museum, which is the oldest surviving building in Hamilton, and learn the details of South Lanarkshire’s history. Last but by no means least, the Hamilton Town House is a theatre venue for arts, music and comedy acts, as well as being an arts centre and library, that residents of Hamilton can enjoy.

Other amenities in the town include three shopping centres, as well as a variety of independent shops, supermarkets and both primary and secondary schools for those looking to move with children.

The town is served by three railway stations, Hamilton Central, Hamilton West and Chatelherault. Trains to Glasgow from both Hamilton Central and Hamilton West run several times an hour and will see you in the city centre in just half an hour, whilst trains from Chatelherault are every half an hour. Hamilton also has its own bus station and services run through to the surrounding areas.
