Living in Paisley

Full of architectural richness, Paisley is Scotland’s largest town, forming part of the greater Glasgow urban area.

Indeed Glasgow is just 7 miles away, whilst another of Scotland’s great cities - Edinburgh - is only 53 miles away. Central Glasgow can be reached in just half an hour by car. The town is also well connected to the city via train, with 10 trains running hourly, making it a great location for those looking to work in the city. Trains also run through to places such as Ayr, Wemyss Bay and Greenock. Glasgow airport which offers both international and domestic flights can also be found on the outskirts of town and is an easy travelling distance away.

Current residents note that the town has good schools, and both primary and secondary schools in Paisley fall into the good and very good categories. Also noteworthy is that local residents are known as ‘Paisley buddies’, well known and well liked for their friendliness and warmth. There could also be some exciting and interesting developments in Paisley’s future too, with the town bidding to be the UK’s 2021 City of Culture.

And if you were wondering whether Paisley has any connection to the famous Paisley print, you’d be correct. Paisley was once a centre for textile production, and it was here where the Paisley designs were produced.
