  Living in Wishaw

Wishaw is a town located in South Lanarkshire. Like many Scottish towns in the area, Wishaw grew as a place thanks to Scotland’s industrial revolution. Along with Motherwell, a neighbouring town, Wishaw was once a centre for steel manufacture.

Today the town itself has a number of independent shops and high street stores for residents to enjoy, as well as a number of cafes and restaurants. Also popular with current residents of Wishaw is the Saturday market which takes place each week. You’ll also find in Wishaw Belhaven park, a peaceful outdoor area complete with ornamental flowerbeds, play areas kitted out with climbing frames and slides for children, as well as a skate park. Other amenities in Wishaw include several supermarket stores, primary and secondary schools and closeby in Motherwell is the recently refurbished concert hall and theatre - home to comedy acts, plays and pantomimes and sell out music acts.

The town of Wishaw is also great in location -  falling just 14 miles east of Glasgow and 32 miles west of Edinburgh. Both major cities can be reached easily by the nearby motorways - the M74 and M8 - meaning that the town is a great place for both visitors and those looking to commute into the cities for work.

The town also has a bus station, which connects the town with other places in the local area such as Hamilton, Motherwell and Coatbridge. Wishaw also has two rail stations serving different parts of the town, and services run through to Glasgow Central and Edinburgh as well as others. Both Glasgow airport and Edinburgh airport can be easily reached from the town too, at just 20 and 26 miles away respectively.
