Will Charge Points For Electric Cars Be A Requirement Of New Build Homes?

They could well be.

In a time where the British government has come under fire for failing to reduce carbon emissions, a new government proposal is looking at ways to cut down on emissions.

As well as being expected to give more details surrounding the ban on sales of conventional petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040, one of the measures outlined in the new proposal could mean that in the future all new build homes will need to be fitted with electric car charging points.

The proposal aims to make it easier to recharge an electric car, rather than refuel petrol or diesel vehicles. Research carried out by the AA revealed that 8 out of 10 drivers would avoid buying an electric car as they see the current lack of charging points as an issue. However if charging points were included in new builds as standard, this would certainly help to alleviate the problem and widespread and easy to use charging points would enable electric and hybrid cars to have mass market appeal - something which they currently do not have with only 5.5% of the UK's new car market in the first six months of this year.

Let's see what happens going forward...
