FIRST TIME BUYERS in London are reported to have to wait up to seven years longer to get onto the property ladder than in other parts of the country, according to a recent report by the Halifax.  For anyone looking to get onto the property ladder sooner, they should attend the First Time Buyer Home Show on Saturday 8th October at the Business Design Centre in Islington.

The free to attend event will provide a unique opportunity for Londoners to speak to the experts and find out everything they need to know about getting onto the property ladder whatever their budget.

Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer Magazine comments: “It’s a trying time for first time buyers especially in London and many inexperienced homebuyers may quite rightly be wondering about their next steps are.

Whilst it is always good to remain cautious, the good news for first time buyers in the Capital is that in recent months we have seen interest rates drop to an historic low and we are enjoying a temporary cooling of London house prices. This has actually created a fantastic opportunity for aspiring homebuyers to secure their first home.”

The free to attend First Time Buyer Home Show, which will take place on Saturday October 8th, will exhibit a range of schemes and properties suitable for first time buyers which are currently available to buy in London and commuter belt.

Free mortgage advice will also be available on the day which will allow any first time buyer to find out exactly how much they can afford.  A range of seminars will also be held throughout the day, including property expert Kate Faulkner talking on the subject of getting onto the ladder- post Brexit. Exhibitors on the day include Bellway, John Charcol mortgage experts, Thames Valley Housing Catalyst Housing, Help to Buy London and Which? Mortgage Advisors.

Lynda continues: “Every year we welcome thousands of first time buyers to our London event at The Business Design Centre, all of whom are looking to find out everything they need to know about buying their first home in the capital.

Saving hours of legwork as well as being free to attend, visitors can gain valuable advice from a range of experts whilst being able to view a range of properties that meet their individual requirements.” For one lucky attendee at this year’s show will also be in with a chance of winning £5000 towards the cost of their first home purchase.
Lynda adds: “We all know that one of the biggest hurdles first time buyers face is having enough to pay for a deposit and this is especially true in London. This is why we are giving away £5,000 on the day to one lucky first time buyer to help towards some of the costs associated with buying a home. In addition, we will be exhibiting a range of schemes, including Shared Ownership and Help to Buy, which will also help bring down the upfront costs of homeownership.”
