Initiative Launches To Tackle UK Housing Shortage

Property Wire reports on the new £2.7 million initiative by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Home Builders Federation (HBF).

Known as the Home Building Skills Partnership, the aim is to identify the skills gap faced by UK home builders, with a view to bringing together firms of all sizes to ensure that the industry meets these needs so it can continue to build more homes.

To achieve this there will be initiatives to promote collaboration on skills across the supply chain, so that the industry can better plan for its future needs. The partnership will also support over 3,500 construction businesses and, by 2019, train 45,000 new entrants and 1,000 experienced workers with the new home-building training qualifications.

It comes at a time when the house building has increased 25% year on year and the demand for new homes still shows no sign of slowing down.
