Let's Play House With Redrow

If Buying A New Home Was Left To Children, What Questions Would They Ask?

JUST about every aspect of buying and owning a new home has been under the spotlight over the years – except perhaps one. If buying a new home was left to children, what questions would they ask?
Homebuilder Redrow thought it would be fun to find out and joined forces with a primary school to give young pupils the run of the house.
The seven and eight-year-olds were allowed to explore every nook and cranny and ask Redrow’s sales consultants any questions they wanted for a specially created film that’s now running on Redrow.TV and social media.

The film shows eight children running through a Redrow show home, hiding in wardrobes, jumping on beds and racing around the garden in a bid to find out what a new home could offer them. And the verdict?

Lacey Bartley and Reece Crowder play hide and seek in the wardrobes!
Dave Bexon, Redrow’s group sales and marketing director, said: “I think it’s fair to say they loved the houses. Their favourite things were the conservatory, the big cupboards, the bedrooms, especially the bunk beds, and they had great fun in a swinging egg chair in the garden.”
And what did the children have to say?
From wanting to sit in the conservatory all day and “watch flowers grow in the garden" to aspiring to live in a Redrow home when they were older, they had plenty to offer.
“It’s big but it isn’t too big,” said one boy.
“This is well bigger than my old bedroom,” said another of the children.

Bunk beds get Lacey and Reece's seal of approval!

Some wanted to know where the trampoline would go – or if it could come with a lift. They craved the cookies laid out in the show home kitchen, but weren’t so keen on the books in the lounge.
Asked how much they’d be prepared to spend to own a house like this, answers included “I’d give them all my money to let me buy it” … and “one million jelly beans!”
“I don’t think we’ll be accepting sweets as payment just yet,” Dave laughed. “But it’s good to know which element of our homes appeal to the younger generation; and interesting to hear them pull out examples like big bedrooms and the window designs as favourite features. Parents tend to like those things too. We’d like to thank pupils from Athelstan Community Primary School in Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire for their help.”
