About This Development

About the Development

As the name suggests, Langley Country Park is no ordinary housing development. Thoughtfully laid out on the edge of mature woods and open farmland, and built around a central park, this is a very special place to set up home and raise a family. A choice of schools close by make it ideal for children of all ages, while you’ll find all the convenience of the city close at hand, with excellent road and rail connections for your daily commute.

With so much to offer, it’s no surprise that Langley Country Park is proving a popular and sought after development.

Amenities

Convenience groceries can be found nearby at Drayton News, along with Co-Op and Nisa stores, with all the major supermarkets represented in Derby itself, including a Sainsbury’s store at the nearby Kingsway Retail Park.

For doctors, register with P. Lacey just off Kingsway (Sat Nav DE22 4DY, call 01332 204234) while dentists can be found at Mackworth Dental Practice (Sat Nav DE22 4AU, call 01332 380490).

Dining

The Mundy Arms and The Farmhouse Restaurant are both close by along the A52, with Sal’s Easy Diner and the Royal Raj also just a short taxi ride away. Markeaton Tearooms is a great way to complete a visit to the park in style.

Nearby Mickleover has a wide selection of pub grub on offer, with The Robin, The Great Northern within walking distance and Hackwood Farm Shop and Cafe also close by.

Head into Derby and you’ll find something for every taste and budget, from independent fine dining to major chain family favourites.

Education

There is a choice of primary schools within walking distance of Langley Country Park, including Silverhill Primary School and Kirk Langley Primary School close to the development.

Older children have an excellent selection of schools to choose from in and around Derby, including the ‘highly’ rated Ecclesbourne Secondary School, John Port School and Derby High School. Derby Grammar School offers an independent alternative. For older students, Derby College offers further education, with the University of Derby conveniently close, saving on student accommodation fees.

Leisure

Langley Country Park has plenty of leisure opportunities right on your doorstep, with footpaths and cycleways to help you explore this wonderful setting. Nearby you’ll also find Markeaton Park and the classic country house and grounds of Kedleston Hall. The hall hosts open-air theatre and cinema productions in the summer months, making for a charming cultural evening. For even more open space, head along the A52 to the 15 miles of the Peak District National Park.

Golfers will enjoy the challenge of Mickleover Golf Club, while a wide range of sports can be found at Queens Leisure Centre in Derby and Lonsdale Swimming Pool.

Derby has much to offer for all tastes, from multi-plex cinemas and theatres to ten-pin bowling. It is also the real ale capital of the country according to Lonely Planet and CAMERA.

Shopping

Kingsway Retail Park, just a short drive from the development offers a wide choice of out of town shopping from the likes of Next, M&S, TK Maxx and Argos, while in town, the Intu Derby shopping mall offers over 200 stores, plus a choice of eateries and watering holes to suit the whole family. Derby has a pedestrianised centre with all your favourite names, along with an historic covered market hall.

For a more civilised shop, take a trip back in time and browse the intriguing independent stores of the Cathedral Quarter, surrounded by ancient architecture. It’s a wonderful place to browse away an afternoon at an altogether more gentle pace.

Transport

The development lies just off the A52, speeding you swiftly into the city, with connections via the A38 to the A50 expressway. The M1 is just 7miles away at the Kegworth Interchange. Burton upon Trent is 11miles, as is Ashbourne, gateway to the Peak District, with Nottingham just 17miles. Derby City Centre is around 3miles, with a regular bus service along the A52 Kingsway.

Derby Station has over 600 park and ride spaces, with regular trains to Nottingham in 25mins, Birmingham in 37mins and London in an hour and a half. For international travel, East Midlands Airport is just half an hour’s drive.
