About This Development

About the Development

The Heathfields is situated just outside the picturesque village of Monkton Heathfield, in the stunning Somerset countryside. Its sought after location provides easy access to Taunton Town Centre and the M5 motorway, which ensures excellent commuter links across the county and the South West. Yet residents of our beautiful development won’t just benefit from its enviable setting. Awaiting our new residents is a stunning collection of new properties, ranging from quaint 2 bedroom to exquisite 4 bedroom homes.

The mix of Heritage Collection homes planned for this development is sure to attract couples and families from across the region. By seamlessly combining traditional exteriors with high-specification interiors finished to a contemporary style, we have succeeded in creating the finest living standards for you and your family. The pride that we feel for our homes is evident in even the smallest detail, and it is a pride that we know you will share.

The town is well served by its amenities, with a range of doctors’ and dentists’ practices. Closest to the Heathfields development is the Creech Medical Centre, a 20 minute walk away. Taunton also has a family planning clinic and a centre for occupational health. Bridge Street Dental Centre is two-and-half miles away in the centre of Taunton, making it easily reached by everyone. There are two hospitals, Musgrove Park Hospital and Somerset Partnership, as well as a private Nuffield Hospital as well. Among its many churches are facilities for several denominations, including a Quaker Society of Friends, plus facilities for many others.

Options for dining out in Taunton are numerous. Every cuisine imaginable is represented here in the Somerset county town. For quality British food, The Willow Tree has an unbeatable reputation in the area and Augustus is similarly well praised locally. Ciao Amore serve Italian delights, Aphrodites Restaurant are known for their Greek specialities and the Gurkha 3 prides itself on Nepalese and Indian dishes. Plenty of pubs also serve food too, making it easy to find somewhere to relax with friends of an evening or to enjoy a special occasion with loved ones.

As to be expected in a town of such size, the provision for education is extensive. People moving into the area will find a wide range of schools to choose between at both primary and secondary levels. Closest to the Heathfields development is the West Monkton Primary School, which has seven single age-group classes and is a short walk away, then for secondary education the Heathfield Community School is similarly close by. Heathfield Community School also has a thriving sixth form with a specialism in the performing arts, for continuing education post-16 in a number of subject areas.

No matter which leisure activities are preferred, there is something here for everyone to do. Sports fans will love the proximity to The County Ground, once home of Taunton Cricket Club and now the location for the England Women’s Cricket Team as well as Somerset Cricket Club.

The town has its own football and rugby clubs as well as being able to boast a semi-professional basketball team who play in the English Basketball League’s male first division. Numerous swimming pool and leisure centre facilities promote fitness with their classes and sessions, while others still can enjoy Taunton Racecourse without exerting themselves quite so much.

Similarly, outside of sports there are plentiful arts and theatrical leisure venues, including a range of museums, galleries, cinemas and theatres.

Shoppers will find plenty to appeal, with the main centre having a thriving high street with all of the shops that would be expected. The Riverside Retail Park is nearby off the M5, with a good selection of large out of town stores including Halfords and PC World. The tourist information guides for Taunton offer a tailor made retail shopping guide, as well as a helpful smartphone app to help with planning visits to all the favourite shops.

Located in Taunton, the largest town in its county and the heart of Somerset, the Heathfields development is ideally situated with transport links to numerous other places. Road links are particularly strong, with Taunton connected to the M5 motorway, which leads to Bristol to the north and Exeter to the south.

The A38 road runs alongside the motorway, connecting to several other local towns and villages. Taunton has its own coach station served by National Express and a range of local operators, including Berrys Of Taunton, which has a daily service to London.

Local buses between villages and town destinations are also regular and convenient. A park and ride scheme is useful for those who do not wish to drive in the city centre. For railway links, Taunton’s mainline station is on the line between Penzance and London as well as being a point on the Cross Country Route between London, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and Plymouth.
